Conviction, fine for offer of unlicensed building work in Townsville

Ian Hewitt has been fined $2,200 plus costs in Townsville Magistrates Court for offering to carry out building work while an unlicensed individual.

Commissioner of the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC), Steve Griffin, said Mr Hewitt offered to undertake restumpting and relocation work on a private residence in Balagal Beach, Townsville in mid-2010.

Mr Hewitt, of Roseneath, Townsville, pleaded guilty to the charges in Townsville Magistrates Court on 20 May, 2014.

Mr Griffin said the result was another warning to anyone thinking about undertaking unlicensed building work that the QBCC would detect their activities and take appropriate punitive action against them.
