PUBLIC WARNING - Daniel Richard Renger and Lexys Kitchens

This is a warning by the Commissioner of the QBCC to the public under section 20J(1)(h) of the Queensland Building and Construction Commission Act 1991

The Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) is urging consumers, contractors and suppliers to be cautious in their dealings with Daniel Richard Renger trading as Lexys Kitchens, of Forest Lake. Mr Renger also uses the first name of Richard.

QBCC Commissioner, Steve Griffin said Mr Renger does not hold a QBCC licence and is not able to carry out, or enter into contracts to carry out building work, including kitchen renovations, in Queensland at a value of more than $3,300.

He said Mr Renger has been carrying out unlawful building work in the Brisbane suburbs of Coorparoo, Rochedale, Middle Park and Mundoolun.

“We have received complaints that Mr Renger is taking upfront deposits and not returning to complete the work,” Mr Griffin said.

“The QBCC is also investigating him for unlicensed contracting, non-compliant contracts and taking excessive deposits. Some subcontractors have also reported monies owed to them by Mr Renger.”

“I warn anyone dealing with Mr Renger to exercise extreme caution and seek legal advice before making any payments, to protect their interests,” Mr Griffin said.

The Queensland home warranty insurance scheme may not be available to all consumers if engaging unlicensed contractors. The QBCC urges home owners to conduct research before engaging contractors, and recommends engaging a licensed contractor even for small jobs. If you are in doubt as to whether the entity you are contracting with is licensed or holds the correct licence to do the work, please conduct a free online licence search at or contact the QBCC on 139 333.
