Public Warning about Mark Stachura, Brisbane Balustrade Group
This is a warning by the Commissioner of the QBCC to the public under section 20J(1)(h) of the Queensland Building and Construction Commission Act 1991
The Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) is urging consumers, contractors and suppliers to be cautious in their dealings with Brisbane Balustrade Group Pty Ltd and its company director, Mark Stachura.
QBCC Commissioner, Steve Griffin, said Mr Stachura was permanently excluded from holding a QBCC licence as a result of his failed companies, Australia Glass Commercial Solutions Pty Ltd and Australia Frameless Glass Solutions Pty Ltd.
Brisbane Balustrade Group Pty Ltd and Mr Stachura do not hold QBCC licences and are not able to carry out, or enter into contracts to carry out, building work, including glass balustrading and swimming pool fencing, in Queensland at a value of more than $3300.
“Brisbane Balustrade Group Pty Ltd and Mr Stachura have been carrying out unlawful building work in the Brisbane and Gold Coast areas,” Mr Griffin said.
The QBCC warns all persons dealing with Brisbane Balustrade Group Pty Ltd and Mr Stachura to exercise extreme caution and seek legal advice before entering into contracts or making any payments, to protect their interests.
The QBCC also warns that the Queensland Home Warranty Insurance Scheme may not be available to consumers if they engage unlicensed contractors. The QBCC urges homeowners to conduct research before engaging contractors, and recommends engaging a licensed contractor even for small jobs. If in any doubt, homeowners should conduct an online licence search at www.qbcc.qld.gov.au or phone the QBCC on 1300 272 272.
