QBCC immediately suspends licence of Contract Build Pty Ltd

The Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) has today immediately suspended the licence of Contract Build Pty Ltd.

QBCC Commissioner, Steve Griffin said the company’s building licence was immediately suspended due to concerns about its financial position.

‘The decision has been made to suspended the builder’s licence to prevent the company from incurring further debt with subcontractors and suppliers and entering into contracts with customers for work they can not complete’, Mr Griffin said.

Mr Griffin said QBCC has received numerous complaints from customers about Contract Build Pty Ltd which elevated concern and the need to take action.

‘There is good news for customers who have entered into contracts with Contact Build’, Mr Griffin said. ‘Fortunately the home warranty insurance scheme, operated by the QBCC, enables individuals to have their case assessed and receive assistance if possible to get their deposits back and complete their homes with other builders’.

‘The Commission has begun to contact affected consumers. However, we encourage homeowners who have concerns about incomplete or defective work performed by Contract Build Pty Ltd to contact the QBCC 24/7 on 139 333’.

‘Similarly, sub-contractors and suppliers who believe they are owed money by Contract Build Pty Ltd should also contact QBCC.’
