Scope of work

  • Certify, install and maintain, inspect and test – fire collars, fire rated penetrations and fire rated joint sealing.

Qualifications required

  • successful completion of both of the following:

    • Certificate II in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing CPP20511 including the successful completion of the following unit of competency:

      • Identify inspect and test passive fire and smoke containment products and systems CPPFES2039A; and
      • Prepare a Fire Protection Certification Statement or Report REP 1; or
  • successful completion of a course the commission considers equivalent to the above.

Note: REP 1 is a competency unit from Certificate IV in Fire Systems Compliance 30903QLD.

Managerial course

Completion of the approved managerial course.

Experience required

Two years experience, which includes experience gained during an apprenticeship or other training, in:

  • the scope of work for the class, or
  • other work, if the commission considers experience on the other work is at least equivalent to experience in the scope of work for the class.

Financial requirements

The relevant financial requirements in the board’s policies.

  • Interstate Applicants – may be eligible to obtain a licence through Mutual Recognition
  • Overseas Applicants – may have to have an overseas qualification assessed for equivalency prior to applying.

Professional Indemnity Insurance

Professional Indemnity Insurance is required for this licence class.

Registered Training Organisations

Registered Training Organisations issue formal qualifications to people who successfully complete training. Please note that this list is a guide only and subject to change. We strive to ensure that the information contained is accurate and up-to-date.

Other qualifications can be:

  • apprenticeship papers
  • documentation showing you successfully completed the appropriate course for this licence class
  • documentation showing you successfully completed an equivalent course for this licence class (e.g. similar modules)
  • recognition certificate
  • a qualification of statement of attainment of the required competency issued by an approved authority for the licence class.

Recognition of prior learning

If you do not hold a formal technical qualification, you may be able to obtain it through recognition of prior learning (RPL) by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). The following RTOs may be able to provide RPL services for this licence class:
