Solar collector panels can be orientated within 90 degrees of north, due to a recent amendment made to the Standard Plumbing and Drainage Regulation 2003. The amendment is referred to as the Standard Plumbing and Drainage (Solar Heated Water Systems) Amendment Regulation 2017.
The intent of this amendment is to reflect the most recent version of the Queensland Plumbing and Wastewater Code (QPWC) that contains a new section, Part 7 – Installation of solar heated water systems, that provides a variation to the requirements of AS/NZS 3500.4 clause 18.104.22.168. This variation allows for solar collector panels to be orientated within 90 degrees of North.
