This is a warning by the Commissioner of the QBCC to the public under section 20J(1)(h) of the Queensland Building and Construction Commission Act 1991
The Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) is urging consumers, contractors and suppliers to exercise extreme caution in their dealings with Mr Zac Mar, MR Lifestyle Constructions Pty Ltd and TS Home Services Pty Ltd.
MR Lifestyle Constructions Pty Ltd should not be confused with Lifestyle Construction Queensland Pty Ltd, which is a QBCC-licensed entity (Licence# 1286378) and is not related to MR Lifestyle Constructions Pty Ltd.
It is alleged that Mr Mar, MR Lifestyle Constructions Pty Ltd and TS Home Services Pty Ltd have been carrying out unlawful building work in Bribie Island, Caboolture, Burpengary, Redcliffe and surrounding areas.
QBCC Acting Commissioner Kellie Lowe said Mr Mar, MR Lifestyle Constructions Pty Ltd and TS Home Services Pty Ltd do not hold a QBCC licence and are not able to carry out, or enter into contracts to carry out building work in Queensland that is valued at more than $3,300.
“The QBCC is investigating Mr Mar, MR Lifestyle Constructions Pty Ltd and TS Home Services Pty Ltd for a range of offences including unlicensed contracting, non-compliant contracts, defective building work, receiving excess deposits and monies-owed complaints,” Ms Lowe said.
“The QBCC is also investigating complaints that MR Lifestyle Constructions Pty Ltd is making use of another person’s QBCC licence number (1114052).”
“I warn anyone dealing with Mr Mar, MR Lifestyle Constructions Pty Ltd and TS Home Services Pty Ltd to exercise extreme caution and seek legal advice before entering into contracts or making any payments, to protect their interests,” Ms Lowe said.
The Queensland home warranty insurance scheme may not be available to consumers if an unlicensed contractor is engaged. The QBCC urges home owners to conduct research before engaging contractors, and recommends engaging a licensed contractor even for small jobs.
