The Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) has today suspended the licence of the Watermark Group Australia Pty Ltd.
The QBCC Commissioner Steve Griffin said the licence was suspended following an investigation that found the company had failed to meet minimum financial requirements.
“The decision has been made to suspend the builder’s licence to prevent the company from incurring further debt with subcontractors and suppliers, and from entering into more contracts with customers for work they cannot complete,” Mr Griffin said.
Mr Griffin said that there is good news for customers who have entered into contracts with Watermark Group Australia Pty Ltd.
“Fortunately the home warranty insurance scheme, operated by the QBCC, enables individuals to have their case assessed and receive assistance if possible to get their deposits back and complete their homes with other builders.”
“The QBCC has begun to contact affected consumers, however, we encourage home owners who have concerns about incomplete or defective work performed by Watermark Group Australia Pty Ltd to call the QBCC 24/7 on 139 333.”
“Similarly, sub-contractors and suppliers who believe they are owed money by Watermark Group Australia Pty Ltd should also contact the QBCC.”
