Notifiable work audits

Plumbing and drainage licensees are often curious as to how the QBCC conducts their audits.

When it comes to notifiable work administration audits, there are three audit programs – random, compliance and real estate.

For random audits – plumbing and drainage companies are randomly selected using online searches, industry advertisements, newspapers, contractor licence lists, radio advertising and vehicle advertising.

Form 4/4A reminder for backflow prevention devices

There has been confusion in the industry about whether a Form 4/4A is required for backflow prevention devices.

A licensee is required to lodge a Form 4/4a if they install, replace or remove a testable backflow prevention device (refer to category 8 of schedule 2, Standard Plumbing and Drainage Regulation 2003).

A licensee is required to lodge a Form 9 with the Local Government Authority (LGA) every time they test a backflow prevention device.

Get your Form 4 for plumbing and drainage work

If you engage a builder to build an extension on your property, which includes a bathroom, the builder will employ a licensed plumber to perform the plumbing and drainage work.

On completion of the work, the plumber lodges a Form 4 with the QBCC and must provide a copy of the notice to the builder. As the property owner, you may also contact the QBCC to access a copy of the Form 4.
