From time to time you may become involved in a payment dispute when you're working in the construction industry and there's nothing more frustrating than not being able to get paid for the work you've done. But how can you easily resolve a payment dispute without having to go through the lengthy and costly process of going to court? This is where 'adjudication' may help you.
It doesn't matter whether the contract was for construction work or the provision of goods or services to the construction industry, or even if it was only a verbal agreement and not written down, as long as the contract was agreed to after 1 October 2004 and the work carried out in Queensland, you may be able to use the adjudication process under the Building and Construction Industry Payments Act 2004 (BCIPA).
The registry will let you know the right way to follow the adjudication process.
