QBCC presents at 'Rebuilding Resilience' seminars on 19th March 2015 in Rockhampton

5 March 2015

In the wake of Tropical Cyclone Marcia, the Central Queensland University (CQU) is helping the recovery effort by hosting information seminars for contractors and home owners on 19th March 2015. Both seminars will be held in the CQU sports auditorium in Rockhampton.

The contractor seminar, held from 1pm-4pm, is open to builders, building certifiers, building designers, carpenters, bricklayers and plumbers. It will focus on the technical aspect of the recovery effort, including Compliance and Tie Down standards and local government procedures. There will also be time for contractors to have their specific questions answered.

The home owner seminar, held from 5pm-7pm, will focus more on what home owners need to know to get back on their feet. A presentation on 'resilience' will be followed by information on repairing damage to their properties. This includes tips on how to engage the right contractors, signing contracts, local government procedures and avoiding common pitfalls.

QBCC and industry associations will also be on hand to answer questions from both contractors and home owners.
