Update

If defective work is identified, any licensee responsible may receive a Direction to Rectify (DTR). This does not change the law or the QBCC’s discretion. Principal contractors remain responsible for the proper supervision of all building work under their contract. See Clearer accountability for defective work—refined DTR process for more information.

What is defective work

Faulty or unsatisfactory building work may arise during or after the completion of a building project.

Help with defective work

If a contractor doesn't want to fix work that you believe is defective we may be able to help you to resolve the dispute.

As a property owner or a principal contractor, you can lodge a defective work complaint.
