CEO and Commissioner of the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC), Angelo Lambrinos, said the report reinforced a number of themes and priorities that had been raised with him by industry stakeholders across the state.

“It was very reassuring to see many of these themes reflected in the QPC’s Final Report. This strong alignment in priorities confirms we are focussing on the right things as we continue our transformation agenda, including productivity and efficiency gains.”

The QPC Report mentions that the QBCC, “…has commenced a process to improve its performance … with an improved focus on consumers and a more accountable, transparent, risk-based, and outcomes-driven regulatory approach”.

“The QPC has recommended that we continue with these important business improvements, which will build industry confidence and support a thriving building and construction industry,” Mr Lambrinos said.

“The QBCC will continue to work with all of its stakeholders on relevant recommendations in the QPC Final Report, from insurable work thresholds to financial regulation, transparent performance metrics, and refreshed compliance and enforcement strategies.

“We will continue to invest in our digital transformation and support more contemporary legislation, all of which will strengthen our regulatory capabilities and services and make it easier to do business with us.

“As I’ve said previously, this is a very exciting time to be a part of the building and construction industry in Queensland, and this report will further support our work to make Queensland the building capital of the nation.”
