Complaints about pre-purchase or termite inspections

If your pre-purchase building inspection and/or termite inspection report fails to mention existing damage to your property, you must take your own action against the inspector.

If you decide to go to court, we may be able to inspect your property and provide a report to help you with your case.

Make a pre-purchase building or termite inspection complaint

Write or email the inspector with your concerns giving them a reasonable timeframe (e.g. 14 days) to respond. Keep a copy of your correspondence.

If you are not happy with the response, make a complaint online or download a Residential and Commercial Building Work Complaint form (PDF). Include a copy of the pre-purchase building inspection/termite inspection report and the letter you sent to the inspector.

It is important that you lodge your complaint as soon as possible after receiving the report. Time delays make it difficult for us to prepare an accurate report.
