New licence card

We send a confirmation letter when your licence is renewed and a card 2 weeks later.

Late renewals and suspension

If you don't pay your licence renewal fee by the due date, your licence may be suspended. This means you can't carry out any building work, including:

  • signing contracts
  • providing quotes or tenders
  • completing building work in progress.

You have 3 months from licence expiry date to renew your licence. After that time we may cancel your licence and you will have 3 months to apply to have it restored.

Restore

If you do not renew your licence within 3 months of the expiry date, we will cancel your licence. You then have a further 3 month period in which you may be able to restore your licence after we have cancelled it for late fees.

To restore your licence you will need to complete a form and pay the restoration fee. Your licence will be restored from the expired renewal date.

If 3 months has passed since your licence was cancelled, you will have to reapply for the licence and meet the current licensing requirements.

NOTE: If your licence is suspended or cancelled for any reason other than late fees, it cannot be restored. We will send you a notice outlining the reason for the suspension and give you time to provide the information we need. You'll need to reapply and meet the current licensing requirements.
